1. Privacy Commitment

Autopeople is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. Autopeople takes all due care and reasonable steps to protect our systems and the privacy of the information you provide in compliance with the National Privacy Principles established under the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000.

Despite such measures, it is possible information could be unlawfully observed by a third party while in transit over the Internet or unlawfully accessed while stored on Autopeople systems. Autopeople accepts no liability should this unlawful observation or access occur.

3. Privacy Principles

The Privacy Principles outlined below summarise the Principles Autopeople has chosen to adopt in anticipation of our future compliance requirements under the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000.

3.1 Collection of personal information

To avoid unreasonable intrusion, Autopeople is committed to only collecting information from users that is necessary for our functions and activities.

Autopeople is committed to only collecting information by lawful and fair means with your informed consent. To this end we draw your attention to the following:

Autopeople is the trading name for National Automotive Consulting Pty Ltd with offices located at 2nd Floor, 470 Collins St, Melbourne 3000;

enquiries should be directed to Autopeople client services on (03) 9614 6000 if you wish to gain access to the information you have provided;

Autopeople collects your personal information for the purpose of finding you a suitable job placement by matching your skills and aspirations with the requirements of employers registered with us;

Autopeople discloses your name and the information you provide in your résumé only to employers registered with us. Where you apply for a specific position, only that employer will be advised of your application;

Autopeople will not disclose the information you provide to any other party, except if required by law;

Autopeople may not be in a position to provide you with a suitable job placement if all or part of the requested information is not provided;

3.2 Use and disclosure of personal information

As a general principle, your information will only be used or disclosed for its original or reasonably related purpose unless you have consented to its use or disclosure for another purpose;

3.3 Accuracy of personal information

Autopeople is committed to ensuring your personal information is accurate , complete and up to date;

3.4 Security of personal information

Autopeople is committed to ensuring reasonable steps are taken to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure;

3.5 Destruction of personal information

Autopeople will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify personal information if it is no longer needed for any purpose for which the information may be used or disclosed under Privacy Principle 3.2.

3.6 Openness in relation to the practices of Autopeople

Autopeople has documented clearly expressed policies on the management of personal information and can make this documentation available on request.

3.7 Access and correction rights

As a general principle, Autopeople will give you access to your personal information and allow you to correct it.

3.8 Use of government identifiers

Autopeople will not identify your personal information by reference to any government agency’s identifier such as your drivers’ licence number, Medicare number or Tax File Number.

3.9 Anonymity

Autopeople gives you the option of providing your information anonymously where it is lawful and practicable to do so. However, the nature of our job placement functions will usually make this option impracticable

3.10 Restrictions on transborder data flows

As a general principle, Autopeople will only transfer your personal information to a foreign country if we believe that the information will be protected by a law or a contract which upholds privacy principles similar to the National Privacy Principles.

3.11 Sensitive personal information

Autopeople does not require the collection of sensitive personal information such as information about your health, political or religious beliefs or affiliation, or sexual preference. If such sensitive personal information is to be provided it will only be collected or disclosed with your consent.
